Real solutions for a financial recovery which do not cost a single tax dollar.

This is a summary of our initial post, For the full content please see the same title in the March 2009 archives. Please click this link, the full article will appear at the bottom of this page!

It's simple, much if not all of what ails us economically can be solved without costing one thin dime, that is what we mean by a ZERO COST RECOVERY.

Many of today's ills have come from easily reversible causes, here are a few to start you thinking:
- The Bible condemns usury (sort of); whether or not you are religious, this make great sense.

- Big Banks don't work for America or Americans (or anyone else for that matter). Consolidation was touted as a way to lower costs, provide better service and more affordable fees to customers. Can anyone show me an example where these promised economies of scale came to life? How about the lower fees and better service?

- Bigger is not better, that is why anti-trust legislation was enacted. Today's financial crisis was brought to a head by the unvarnished greed of the giant banks, financial institutions and corporations with the complicity of the majority of our legislators, it is just that simple.

- The "Free market" is not the cause of this problem, the fact that it has been castrated, prostituted and redefined by the greedy is. "Free market" does not mean a market without rules, or domination by the richest and most powerful. Without meaningful competition, free markets cannot, and do not, exist - period.

Rollback, update and aggressively enforce meaningful anti-trust & financial sector regulations and the root cause will be eliminated. How about requiring a binding contract guaranteeing that all consumer beneficial promises be a part of all mergers and acquisitions? To be effective, it should include an onerous non compliance clause!

- The Stock Market is not synonymous with the economy, it is gambling pure and simple, and is one of the economy's greatest ills - complete with crooked bookies. A simple truth is wherever there is gambling there are people who find sophisticated ways to cheat.
- "A Free & Independent Press is the Cornerstone of Democracy". I don't know who first said it, but they were spot on. Today's media does not hold the rich and powerful accountable, it is owned by them; they are at the core of the problem.
- Food costs have more than doubled, yet the family farmer is struggling while large corporate farmers are getting huge subsidies. One solution would be enacting anti-trust legislation that forbids the huge conglomerates which are so dominant in critical industries from operating at more than one level in the manufacturing and distribution chain.... Grow it, process it, distribute it or retail it - choose one!
- The price of oil at the well head is dramatically different from the price we see quoted on the TV each night. The difference is created by speculators in the commodities markets (the same holds true for food and other vital commodities). Force the CFTC to re-institute the commodities speculation guideline that were in place prior to 1990.
- Big Pharma spends far more on marketing and lobbyists than on R&D, some say the figure is twice as much. How much do you think this adds to what your prescriptions cost? Lobby our legislators to allow Medicare to negotiate drug costs with their manufacturers and watch prices fall to the levels enjoyed in most other countries.
- Health care costs are skyrocketing yet Physicians pay has decreased dramatically. How much do you think the near monopolies in Health Insurance and HMO's contribute to this?
-Corporations are NOT People. Our Founding Fathers did not think so when they formed our nation, why are we allowing it now?

Monopolies and oligopolies are the root causes of our problems. Cure these ills, and our financial woes will evaporate WITHOUT COSTING ONE DIME.

Obama reneges on two more vitally important promises to 90% of American people!

In 2008, I cautiously, but hopefully voted for Obama, after all, Palin made it a no brainer. In 2012, he supported the big bank bailout, while bailing out on the damage the meltdown did to Main Street America and our workplace, it was back to another election where the choice was about who to vote against, I checked the Obama box once again, but reluctantly.
Obama care was a wonderful story, but it was clearly flawed from the git-go. In spite of the tremendous short-term good it did for many Americans, the clear winners were obviously the insurance and pharmaceutical companies.
As time has gone on, it has become clearer and clearer that Obama is a Trojan Horse for the 0.01%, and not the savior he promised Main Street.
Cutting to the chase, yesterday following his organically grown breakfast with his organically fed family, he signed the Monsanto-sponsored bill gutting any possibility for truthful and meaningful food labelling. This in spite of 90% or so of Americans being for it.

Today in a joint press conference in Singapore he flatly stated that in spite of the near total opposition of the American people, and even Hillary Clinton, that he would sign over ownership of our country to the corporatocracy that owns him.

An open letter to Hillary Clinton, from "Never Hillary" to "Reluctantly and Cautiously Hillary"

Hillary, your political machine secured your nomination, but make no mistake, you did not defeat Bernie, his ideas & philosophies, or those who ascribe to them.
Many of us fully appreciate that in the end, you agreed to incorporate much of our vision for America into yours and we sincerely, but cautiously, look forward to you genuinely embracing them. We wish you well, but please be assured that we will be standing beside you as a constant reminder of the promises you made to America’s Main Streets.
Convince us that you will put your energies into forwarding our mutual agenda and I can assure you that a huge percentage of the people who brought Bernie’ dream to within a few points of becoming the nominee will bring their dedication and innovative spirit to your campaign.
Humbly, we have repeatedly demonstrated our strength, commitment & boundless energy, and it's proven effectiveness. Needless to say, we have earned the trust & dedication of huge segments of Main Street America, Americans you will sorely need in November.

Earn our trust, and we can turn a coin toss election into a Democratic & Independent landslide with long down-ballot coat tails.

My takeaway from 2016's Super Tuesday

The most important thing I am taking away from Super Tuesday is the way the “Political Elite” in both parties are trying to subvert the wishes of their members. In the case of the Democrats, very successfully, on the Republican side, not so much - yet.
On the Democratic side, it starts with Vermont’s Senator, Patrick Leahy, and Governor Peter Shumlin thumbing their noses at the wishes of over 80% of their state’s voters, voters who have supported Leahy time and time again by returning him to office with consistently huge margins. Their endorsements of Clinton, who trailed even Trump in Vermont’s polls, went against the clear sentiments voiced on our Main Streets, sentiments which overwhelmingly favored Bernie. I strongly expect both Leahy & Shumlin will go a step further and support casting Vermont’s “Super Delegate Votes” for Clinton.
Initially, the Republicans supported the excitement of a large and diverse field. Then when Trump flew in the face of every rule of politics and became the dominant force, they saw their hold on power slipping away overnight. Government “by the people” was rising its ugly head and they hated it. Now their “elite” are frantically conspiring in smoke filled rooms to find a way to squash it. To be continued, but I assure you it will be a world class donnybrook.
From the git-go the Democratic Party elite have had their thumb on the scales to ensure Clinton would be their nominee, regardless of what their membership wanted. “Dirty tricks” abound; the debates were engineered to create minimum viewership in order to discourage Hillary’s competition from gaining traction and challenging her front runner status. False accusations were made that the Bernie’s campaign was cheating on a massive scale – all mention of which magically evaporated as soon as the actual realities began coming to light; facts which establishment politicians found embarrassing and the media all but ignored.
Their exclusive use of “Super-Delegates” to discourage outsiders from running and winning the nomination became an important tool to subvert the value of our votes, and DNC Chair Wasserman-Schultz admitted to exactly that, and repeatedly justified it on national television.
When Bernie’s small $27 Main Street donors were well on their way to generating more than forty million dollars in donations in February alone, far surpassing Clinton’s haul, the DNC panicked and overturned Obama’s 2008 party donor rules which banned donations from federal lobbyists & PACs and took a giant step toward limiting special interest influence in Washington. Considering O’Malley’s weak standing, this was to the Clinton campaign’s sole benefit.
Then there is the corporate media’s virtual monopoly on public communications and the press, and its near total blackout of the Sanders people powered campaign and its democratic (not socialist) values. Not to mention their constant misuse of “Socialist” as his descriptor in order to negatively skew perceptions against his fairness based, people and business focused, "Social Democratic" ideology.
Even Elizabeth Warren, who many, including me, viewed as the Patron Saint of Main Street, stood idly by watching the political establishment triumph over the people’s candidate and our children’s futures.
In its entirety, this is a slap in our faces and a total disavowal of our importance in America’s grand experiment in democracy. God forbid that democracy prevails and the political power brokers lose their hold on the “catbird seat”.

Our “for and by the people” government is slipping away and the support America’s left, right and center is showing for “outsider” candidates, regardless of their party, is tangible proof of just how much we all want Bernie’s “Political Revolution”, and how hard Main Street will fight to get it!
